Former Newcastle United player Steven Taylor concluded his two-day visit to Uganda, where he shared his inspiring story with young players at the Motherwell Soccer Academy. The event, held in Mutungo, aimed to motivate the academy’s youth to focus more on football and pursue their dreams.

Taylor, accompanied by counterpart Samy White, used the Motherwell Soccer Clinic to engage with the young athletes, sharing experiences and providing guidance.

“It’s been an incredible experience to see the passion and dedication these kids have for football,” Taylor said.

Samy White echoed Taylor’s sentiments, emphasizing the importance of support and encouragement for young talents.

“We are here to help these young players realize their potential and show them that with hard work, anything is possible,” White stated.

David Katende, Assistant General Secretary of the National Council of Sports, praised Taylor for his visit and efforts to inspire Uganda’s youth.

“Steven Taylor’s visit has been a significant boost for our young footballers. His presence and words of encouragement are invaluable,” Katende said.

Motherwell Soccer Academy Director Paul Mark Kayongo highlighted the need for more initiatives like Taylor’s visit.

“Uganda needs more footballers, and visits like these help to motivate and nurture young talent,” Kayongo remarked.

The Motherwell Soccer Academy is one of the growing academies in Uganda dedicated to nurturing football talent. Taylor and White promised to continue their support for the academy and its players, ensuring ongoing inspiration and assistance for the young footballers.
