Shadia Nabirye Wins ForteBet Award, Eyes Professional Football

Shadia Nabirye, a 15-year-old footballer from Kawempe Muslim Secondary School has eyes set on professional football. She made the revelation after she was named ForteBet Football Player of May as part of the Fortbet Real Stars Sports Awards.

She beat competition from Vipers captain Milton Karisa and Busoga United’s Emmanuel Ajo to win the accolade, which comes with prize money of UGX 500,000.

Nabirye, currently a Senior 3 student on scholarship, has distinguished herself as a striker for her team. Her impressive performance at the CAF Schools Championship in Zanzibar including scoring three decisive goals, earned her the best footballer award for the month of May.

In addition to her individual success, Nabirye’s contributions were pivotal in helping the Kawempe Muslim women’s football team secure a bronze medal and a $150,000 prize at the 2024 CAF Pan African Football Tournament held in Zanzibar.

Expressing her gratitude, Nabirye said, “I am grateful to God and extend special thanks to my coach and parents who have always supported me. Their efforts have made this award possible.”

Looking ahead, Nabirye aspires to become a professional footballer and compete with top teams internationally within the next five years.

The Fortbet Real Stars Sports Awards are dedicated to recognizing and rewarding outstanding athletes across various sports disciplines.
