The Uganda Cranes have been awarded a substantial “winning bonus” following their 1-0 victory over Botswana. FUFA President Moses Magogo, representing Speaker of Parliament Anita Among, handed over a UGX 50 million bonus to the Cranes squad, led by Captain Khalid Aucho and Vice Captain Ismail Watenga on Saturday.
This reward comes after Speaker Among had earlier promised the team additional bonuses if they defeated Botswana and Algeria.
On Tuesday, ahead of the Botswana game, the Speaker delivered UGX 50 million to the Uganda Cranes squad and promised them more money for each game they win in their next two qualifiers.
“When you win the first game, you’ll get a winning bonus, and when you win the second game you’ll get another winning bonus.” She promised.
Uganda edged Botswana 1-0 yesterday at Namboole and Speaker Anita Among has fulfilled part of her pledge.
In a message delivered by the FUFA President, the Speaker congratulated the players on the precious win, and commended the fighting spirit and resilience exhibited in the match that eventually paid off with a result that made Ugandans very happy and proud.
The national team now shifts its focus to their upcoming World Cup qualifier against Algeria, scheduled for Monday, June 10th.
If the Cranes secure another victory in this match, they will be rewarded with an additional UGX 50 million bonus, as promised by the Speaker. The players will be eager to maintain their winning momentum and secure another crucial victory against Algeria.
