Uganda Declares Readiness to Host FEASSA Games as Inspection Begins

Ahead of the highly anticipated Federation of East Africa Secondary School Sports Association (FEASSSA) Games, the organisers Uganda have expressed their readiness to host the 21st edition of the event.

The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) has revealed that the Ugandan government is fully behind the hosting efforts, with financial support and a commitment to deliver an exceptional event.

Addressing the FEASSA delegation before the inspection of Bukedea Comprehensive School, one of the two schools set to host the games, Rev. Can. Dr. Duncans Mugumya, the leader of the Ugandan delegation said that as a country, Uganda is ready to host the games.

“We want to inform you and commit that Uganda is ready to host these games, USSSA is financially supported by the government of Uganda, and we believe this is a national and international activity,” he said.

“As a government, we want to do our best and we produce the best that we can. We want to inform you and commit that Uganda is ready to host these games,” he added.

The FEASSA delegation is currently in Uganda to inspect the host facilities, including Bukedea Comprehensive School and Amus College School. The former is set to undergo a thorough assessment today.

The inspection team will examine the accommodation, playing facilities, medical services, transportation, and other essential elements to ensure the games’ success.

“Our expectation as government is that you tell us where we have scored and where we need to improve as hosts. Feel at home as we prepare for the games,” Mugumya added.

USSSA President and FEASSA President Justus Mugisha acknowledged the growth in Uganda’s sports infrastructure and expressed high expectations for the upcoming games.

“We are also here to assess Uganda’s capacity and preparedness to host the games. We very well know that Uganda can host, but there has been tremendous growth in their games. As FEASSA, we expect standards which are much higher compared to the last time we were in Gulu,” Mugisha said.

The inspection visit comes after the Minister of State for Sports, Hon. Peter Ogwang, conducted a pre-inspection of the host facilities over the weekend and expressed confidence in Uganda’s readiness to host the games.
