The Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) President Justus Mugisha has expressed his delight with the impressive developments at the host schools of this year’s FEASSA games.
During the inspection tour on Wednesday, June 19th, Mugisha, who also serves as the President of the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) and the Vice President of FUFA, was, together with the delegation, impressed by the state-of-the-art facilities being constructed at Bukedea Comprehensive School and Amus College School, the two host institutions.
“I have observed several things, the first one is that for the first time in the history of FEASSA games, we’re going to use facilities which have been put in place within the schools and for FEASSA games,” Mugisha remarked.
At Bukedea Comprehensive School, the delegation was amazed by the brand-new semi-Olympic swimming pool, a 10,000-seater stadium, and a 4,000-capacity arena, all of which have been built specifically for the FEASSA games.
Similarly, Amus College School has also made impressive strides, boasting three brand-new basketball courts, five football pitches, and a stadium that is still under construction but will feature artificial turf.
Mugisha was happy with the new structures and also commended the dedication and hard work of the host schools.
“All the facilities that we’re going to use are going to be new. The other observation is that much as the facilities are not yet 100% complete, the two schools are working tooth and nail to make sure that they’ll be in place by the time of the games,” he said.
The FEASSA games, scheduled to take place from August 16th to 26th, 2024, will showcase the best of East African secondary school sports talent.
Mugisha also reflected on the excitement and anticipation amongst the FEASSA delegates, as inspections continue.
“We’re still going on with the inspection, but I can’t hide the fact that the team is impressed by the work being done,” he said.
