FUFA Officials Inspect Phillip Omondi Stadium Construction Progress

On Wednesday, 19th June 2024, a delegation from the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) conducted an inspection of ongoing construction activities at Phillip Omondi Stadium, which currently serves as the home ground for KCCA, NEC, Kampala Queens, and Proline football clubs.

The visit aimed to assess the progress of the stadium’s second phase of construction and ensure compliance with the stringent requirements set by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The ongoing phase of construction, slated for completion in early 2025, focuses primarily on expanding seating capacity, finalizing the construction of changing rooms, offices, and other essential facilities.

The stadium has been earmarked by FUFA for a potential role as a training venue during the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) slated for 2027, jointly hosted by Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania.

Construction efforts are expected to intensify in the coming months, with stakeholders optimistic about the stadium’s transformation into a modern sporting facility that not only supports local football clubs but also serves as a pivotal venue for international tournaments.
