The 2023 Airtel Masaza Cup champions Bulemeezi’s title defence got off to a wrong start in their own territory after they were edged 1-0 by Buluuli in the opening game of the 2024 campaign at Kasana Luweero on Saturday evening.
Robert Ssewanyana netted the all important goal as early as the seventh minute of the game for Buluuli to begin their tournament with maximum points.
His teammates Muhammad Kanyike put up an impressive performance and was therefore rewarded with the man of the match award.
Buluuli now lead proceedings in Bulange Group with three points whilst the holders have none. Buddu, Kyadondo, Bugerere, and Butambala are the other four teams that complete the Bulange Group.
Bulemeezi and Buluuli will return to action on Saturday, July 7 against Bugerere and Butambala, respectively.
In the absence of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, the Katikkiro of Buganda Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga was the Chief Guest.
