Joseph Kasozi emerged victorious in the Pool King Championship final, defeating Caesar Chandiga 7-6 in a thrilling match on Sunday.
Kasozi’s victory was marked by a remarkable comeback. Trailing 4-2, he called a timeout and returned to dominate, taking a 6-4 lead. Chandiga managed to level the score, but Kasozi secured the final point to clinch the title and a cash prize of Shs. 3,000,000.
In the Pool Queen final, Marion Kisakye, also known as Ankah Sheilah, edged out national champion Rukia Nayiga in a tense 9-8 penalty shootout. The match was tied at 5-5 when time expired, leading to the shootout where Kisakye capitalized on Nayiga’s miss to claim victory. The Jinja crowd erupted in celebration as Kisakye was crowned the new Pool Queen.
The finals faced delays due to a players’ protest over poor table conditions. Despite the setback, the awards ceremony successfully took place at 9 pm.
The Pool Association of Uganda (PAU) now turns its attention to the upcoming Nile Special National Open Pool Championships and the National League.
