NBS Sport has learnt that the KCCA hierarchy has decided not to continue talks with striker Muhammad Shaban over a new contract, terming the deal as too expensive.
Shaban is now expected to leave the Kasasiro Boys after a series of negotiations have yielded nothing in trying to convince him to stay at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
The 26-year-old rejoined KCCA in the summer of 2022 signing a two-year contract from his boyhood club Onduparaka which expires on June 30.
He is reluctant to renew the contract unless his terms are met with some reports suggesting that he wants UGX 250M as a sign-on fee and UGX 7M as monthly payment.
Other reports suggest that Shaban’s camp is demanding UGX 100M as a sign-on fee and a monthly salary of UGX 5M.
The KCCA board considers his demands unrealistic and way beyond their budget leaving them with no option but letting go of the talisman.
Shaban was the StarTimes Uganda Premier League top scorer last season with 17 goals and also scored the lone goal as the Uganda Cranes edged Botswana 1-0 in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
Inevitably all the above increases his valuation and the club allowing the UPL player of the season nominee to see out his contract further complicated the situation.
Several foreign clubs are interested in the serves of the former Raja Casablanca player a side he joined in 2018 from KCCA.
Cranes captain Khalid Aucho’s side Young Africans have also been doing their groundwork on the player for a couple of months now.
However, Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia are reportedly the most realistic suitors at this particular time.
From a professional stint in Morocco, the pacy forward signed for Vipers before returning to Onduparaka.
