Uganda Drops Two Places in Latest FIFA World Rankings

The Uganda Senior Men’s National Football Team, the Uganda Cranes, are eagerly awaiting the draw for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 Qualifiers. The draw event is set to take place tomorrow Thursday July 4th in Johannesburg, South Africa, at 13:30 PM EAT.

This draw will determine the pathway to qualification for the prestigious AFCON 2025, to be held in Morocco. A total of 48 nations will be drawn into twelve groups of four, with the top two teams from each group earning a spot in the final tournament.

Among the 48 national teams, 44 entered directly, while the remaining four emerged victorious from the preliminary round games. The teams are seeded into four pots of twelve each, based on the most recent FIFA World Rankings. Teams in the same pot cannot be drawn into the same qualification group.

Uganda Cranes find themselves in Pot 2, alongside Cape Verde, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Zambia, Benin, Angola, Namibia, Mozambique, and Madagascar.
