My Dream is to Play for KCCA – Bright Stars Midfielder Noordin Bunjo

Bright Stars talented midfielder Noordin Bunjo has revealed his strong desire and aspiration to play for Lugogo-based side KCCA FC in the future.

In an exclusive interview with NBS Sport today morning, the 24-year-old expressed his admiration for the 13-time league champions, saying he grew up looking up to the Lugogo-based club.

“I like KCCA very much because it is the team that I grew up looking up to. They have a nice history, good players, and great coaches – that is the club I’d like to play for,” Bunjo said.

The midfielder believes KCCA would be the ideal club to develop his talent and playing style, stating, “I feel like KCCA is capable of developing my talent and style of play very well.”

The Uganda transfer market officially started on Monday, July 1, and Bunjo revealed that both KCCA and fellow Ugandan giants Vipers SC have expressed interest in signing him.

He however plans to honour his current one-year contract with Bright Stars and stay at the club for the remaining one year.

“The teams that have contacted me and my agency are KCCA and Vipers, but I told them that I still have a one-year contract running with Bright Stars,” he said.

“This is my last season (with Bright Stars). At the end of this season I’ll be free, so they can come for me then. I’ll use this coming season to play very well so that they take me,” he added.

Looking back on the just-concluded StarTimes Uganda Premier League season, Bunjo acknowledged that Bright Stars’ 9th-place finish was not an achievement they had hoped for.

However, he remains optimistic about the club’s plans for the upcoming season.

“As a club, we didn’t like the position we finished in. We finished in the 9th position, and that was not an achievement for us. We had hoped to finish in the top 8 so that we can play in the Super 8,” Bunjo said.

Regarding Bright Stars’ plans for the next season, Bunjo revealed, “They want us to finish in the top 8, and also reach the semi-final of the Uganda Cup or maybe lift the trophy.”

Over the years Noordin Bunjo has been one of the promising talents in Ugandan football. The midfielder, who is a St. Mary’s Kitende product, started off at the Poline Soccer Academy before heading to the senior team.

He played for Proline till 2022 and won the Uganda Cup with them. He currently plays with Kavumba-based side Bright Stars.
