Gomba to Unveil New Head Coach After Frank Mulindwa’s Resignation

Gomba, the five-time Buganda Masaza Cup champions, will have a new head coach on the sidelines for their upcoming match against Mawogola on Saturday, July 13, 2024.

This change follows the sudden resignation of Frank Mulindwa, who cited persistent interference from officials and unpaid fees as his reasons for stepping down.

Mulindwa, who had previously led Buwekula to the 2021 Masaza Cup final and guided Gomba to a runner-up finish last year, expressed his frustration with the situation.

“I have tendered my resignation as head coach of Gomba Ssaza, effective immediately, due to persistent interference in my work by officials and the non-payment of sign-on fees and allowances, which have made it difficult for me to perform my duties effectively,” he stated.

Gomba’s official announcement confirmed the termination of their working relationship with Mulindwa, marking the end of his tenure.

The team has since appointed a new technical team, with Richard Makumbi stepping in as Technical Director, Nasib Mukasa as Head Coach, and William Kyeswa as First Assistant Coach.

The changes come amid a challenging start to the season for Gomba, who suffered a 0-2 loss at home to Kyaggwe on match day one, followed by a 0-4 defeat away to Ssingo on match day two. These disappointing results contributed to the departure of Mulindwa and the subsequent restructuring of the coaching staff.
