Kenya Simbas head coach Jerome Paarwater has unveiled the final 28-man squad for the upcoming Rugby Africa Cup 15s, scheduled to take place in Uganda from July 18 to 29.

The squad is a blend of seasoned veterans and promising new talents, prepared to compete at a high level in this prestigious tournament.

The team sees the return of experienced players Malcolm Onsando, Samson Onsomu, and Michael Wanjala, alongside South Africa-based lock Thomas Okeyo, KCB captain Griffin Musila, and Timothy Okwemba, all of whom missed last year’s internationals.

Notably, Blak Blad’s standout player Obat Kuke, who impressed in the Kenya Cup and Rugby Super Series, has made the cut, along with Menengai Oilers playmaker Abdultwalib Wesonga.

Coach Paarwater has retained most of the players from last season, ensuring continuity and experience.

Key players include Ephraim Oduor, Eugene Sifuna, Teddy Akala, Wilhite Mususi, Hibrahim Ayoo, Hillary Odhiambo, Jeanson Musoga, Elkeans Musonye, Derrick Ashihundu, Walter Okoth, Paul Mutsami, Bryceson Adaka, and Alfred Orege.

George Nyambua will continue to lead the team as captain, with Samson Onsomu and Eugene Sifuna serving as his deputies.

The Simbas are set to depart for Uganda on July 18, with their first match against Senegal scheduled for July 20 at noon EAT.

This match is highly anticipated, as Senegal previously defeated Kenya in Nairobi two years ago. The Simbas are determined to avenge that loss and secure a victory this time around.

Despite limited preparation time, Coach Paarwater emphasized the team’s motivation and readiness.

“Despite limited preparation time, the players are motivated and ready to face the challenge. We aim to give our best as the last time the Simbas won the Africa Cup was in 2013,” he stated.
