Uganda Cranes defender Aziz Kayondo has been promoted from the Czech’s second division to the top flight. This comes after signing a four-year contract with FC Solvan Liberec.
The 21-year-old spent the latter stages of the 2023/24 campaign on loan at MFK Vyskov from Spanish outfit Leganes.
A loan spell at MFK Vyskov was his second in the same season from the Segunda Division club having played for Israel side Hapoel Tel Aviv earlier.
Major League Soccer (MLS)’s Real Monarchs is the other team the former Vipers SC left-back has featured for since leaving St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende in 2022.
Kayondo was recently part of the Uganda Cranes squad during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Botswana and Algeria.
However, he missed both bouts as the Cranes returned to the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole for the first time since 2019 through injury.
When fit, Kayondo has the potential to make the left-back position in the Uganda Cranes team his own.
His new home, Liberec are three-time winners of the Czech First League and also played in the UEFA Cup quarterfinals in the 2001/02 campaign.
During the 2023/24 season, FC Solvan Liberec finished seventh on the 16-team log with 40 points from 30 outings.
