Midfielder Bright Anukani has declared that he has unfinished business at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo upon returning to KCCA Football Club.
The 24-year-old penned a three-year contract until the end of the 2026/27 campaign following the expiry of his deal with Vipers SC.
“I am so happy to be back at KCCA. I return a better player, mature and with experience. I have unfinished business here,” Anukani declared.
“I was here for a season-long loan and the majority of the players I played with are still here. I want to win with this club and also help them achieve their objectives,” he added.
“I have a great bond with the coach and he has already shared with me his plans ahead of the new season and I am here to work with my mates to return the glory to Lugogo,” he noted as quoted by the club’s official website.
The last time Anukani played for KCCA was during the 2020/21 campaign on loan from Proline. He returned to his parent club who sold him permanently to the Venoms.
“I will forever be grateful for the opportunity to play at this great club. Thank you, Vipers SC, to all the staff in every department, from the top management to the helpers, not forgetting the media, thank you for the love and support,” Anukani said as he departed Kitende.
At Vipers, he won the Uganda Premier League and the Stanbic Uganda Cup whilst he clinched the FUFA Big League with Proline.
He is one of the technically gifted players and is adored by many fans especially when playing in the number 10 position.
Anukani has been in the fold of the Uganda Cranes team but has been in and out of the national team.
He is head coach Abdallah Mubiru’s fourth signing after Shafik Kwikiriza Nana, Steven Munguchi, and Emmanuel Anyama, from BUL, Gaddafi, and Kaaro Karungi, respectively.
Ashraf Mugume renewed his contract, Humphrey Oyirwoth was promoted from the development side to the senior team, while goalkeeper Mutwalibi Mugolofa’s contract was extended until 2027.
KCCA have not won the Uganda Premier League in six seasons and Mubiru will be hoping to turn the tide around next season.
