The Rugby Cranes 15s have convened in Jinja for a crucial training camp as they prepare for the upcoming Rugby Africa Cup, which Uganda will host from July 18th to 29th.
The camp, which began on Thursday, July 11th, will run until Sunday, July 14th. At its conclusion, the final squad to represent Uganda will be selected.
This training camp follows a high-intensity preparation period in South Africa, facilitated by a partnership with the Blue Bulls Rugby Club. The players returned from this intensive experience ready to refine their skills and strategies in Jinja.
Uganda is set to welcome seven other nations to the Rugby Africa Cup, with matches scheduled to be held at Namboole Stadium and Mutessa II Royal Stadium in Wankulukuku.
The tournament promises to be a highlight on the African rugby calendar, bringing together top teams from the continent.
In the quarter-finals, Uganda will face Zimbabwe on Saturday, July 20th. Should the Rugby Cranes advance, they will compete against the winner of the Namibia vs. Burkina Faso match in the semi-finals on Wednesday, July 24th.
The Rugby Cranes 15s will aim to perform strongly on home soil and make their mark in the Rugby Africa Cup.
