URA Football Club have officially returned to Nakivubo Stadium as their home ground for the upcoming 2024/25 season.
This move marks a significant milestone for the club, rekindling memories of their triumphant 2011 Uganda Premier League victory celebrated at this historic venue.
Nakivubo Stadium, which had been closed for renovations since 2016 under the management of Hajji Hamis Kiggundu, was officially reopened on June 1, 2024.
The reopening featured various sports activities, including a memorable first match where URA clinched a 3-0 victory against Kitara.
The victory was led by Ivan Ahimbisibwe, who scored a brace, and Joseph Ssemujju, who added another goal, securing the win for coach Alex Isabirye’s side.
The refurbished stadium is set to provide an enhanced matchday experience for both fans and players, thanks to its modern facilities.
The 2024/25 Uganda Premier League season is scheduled to commence on September 18, 2024.
