BUL Football Club have secured the signing of defender Najib Fesali after his contract ran out at URA. The club announced the signing on Wednesday evening.
The 23-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year contract with the Eastern Giants, who are his hometown club.
Fesali, who hails from Jinja, expressed his delight at the move, saying, “Jinja is my home. I grew up from here and grew up seeing BUL FC play, so, it was a no-brainer joining the club.”
The young defender, who has already earned six caps for the Uganda Cranes national team, is eager to contribute to BUL’s success.
“I know the coach here and he knows me as well, and I know that he believes in me. I also know the players at BUL FC, and I think that will make things easier for me here,” Fesali said.
BUL head coach Abbey Kikomeko expressed his delight at securing Fesali’s services, highlighting the player’s qualities that made him an attractive target.
“Najib is a good young defender, he has the height, he is fast and has the commanding power and can as well score. So we looked at that and we agreed to bring him,” Kikomeko said.
Fesali’s journey to the top has been an impressive one, having started his career at Jinja Secondary School in 2013 and going on to win the 2017 Copa Coca-Cola Schools Championship.
He then joined the Tax Collectors in 2020, before spending a season on loan at Gaddafi in 2022.
His performances upon returning to URA last season, where he scored four goals and provided one assist, have now earned him a move to his hometown club.
