Defending champions Namibia’s national rugby union has unveiled its squad for the upcoming 2024 Rugby Africa Cup, which is scheduled to take place in Kampala, Uganda, from July 20th to 28th.
This prestigious men’s rugby union tournament, organized by Rugby Africa, will feature eight nations including Burkina Faso, Senegal, Kenya, Algeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Zimbabwe, the host nation Uganda, and Namibia.
The Namibian squad, which will depart for Uganda on Wednesday, comprises a robust lineup with key players like Jason Benade, Johan Retief, Adriaan Booysen, Jay Cee Nel and Jacques Theron.
Namibia will open the tournament against Burkina Faso in the first game at Namboole stadium. The winner in that game will face the winner between Zimbabwe and Uganda in the semi finals at Wankulukuku stadium.
The Rugby Africa Cup serves as a significant event in the rugby calendar, serving as the first stage of the 2027 men’s Rugby World Cup qualifiers for the African region.
