Uganda Cranes striker Muhammad Shaban’s future at KCCA has been uncertain from the latter stages of last season.
It further escalated when his contract ran down on June 30 with numerous reports suggesting that he had decided to leave whilst others indicating that he was staying.
The whole Ugandan football fraternity has been waiting for his final decision and the 26-year-old has settled for the exit door.
“It is with a heavy heart that I announce my departure from this incredible club after two unforgettable seasons. The memories made, victories celebrated, and bonds formed will forever hold a special place in my heart,” Shaban said in statement released on Thursday.
“I am grateful for the unwavering support, passion, and dedication shown by each and every one of you. “Although my time at The club may be coming to an end, I promise to keep you informed of my next move. Your continued support means the world to me, and I look forward to sharing the next step of this journey with you,” he noted further.
“Thank you to the fans, teammates and club management for every atom of support throughout my time here. You will always hold a special place in my heart. With gratitude and admiration,” Shaban concluded.
It was reported that the two parties had failed to agree on terms for a new contract before rumours pointed to an agreement later which excited KCCA fans.
However, it was once again rumoured that a yet to be confirmed club had offered the former Onduparaka captain a juicier deal and he opted to leave.
It was his a second spell for KCCA when he joined from his hometown club Onduparaka ahead of the 2022/23 campaign on a two-year contract.
His first stint was in 2017 before he left for Moroccan outfit Raja Casablanca in 2018. He later returned home and joined Vipers before switching back to Onduparaka.
Shaban was the top scorer in the Uganda Premier League last season with 17 goals and also netted Uganda Cranes’ goal in a 1-0 win over Botswana in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole in June.
His next destination remains unknown but he is expected to return to professional ranks.
