After weeks of waiting to know who their CAF Confederation Cup opponent will be, the 2024 Stanbic Uganda Cup winners Kitara now have a clue.
The Hoima-based outfit will come up against Libyan side Al Hilal SC Benghazi in the first round of the preliminary round.
The first round of the preliminaries will be played between September 13 and 15 and Brian Ssenyondo’s charges will start their campaign at home.
The Royal will shift base from Masindi Stadium to the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole for their continental engagements.
Ssenyondo’s men returned from Ethiopia where they defeated Mechal SC 2-0 in an international friendly game thanks to Denis Omedi’s brace as the latter marked their 80th anniversary .
Kitara will have a chance of playing at Namboole before facing Al Hilal when they take on KCCA in the quarterfinals of the FUFA Super 8 on August 3.
Meanwhile, it is reported that Al Hilal will be last season’s StarTimes Uganda Premier League top scorer Muhammad Shaban’s new home after he decided to leave KCCA after the expiry of his contract.
Kitara were also linked with the signature of the former Vipers and Onduparaka striker but the Libyans reportedly provided a better offer to him.
After the first leg in Kampala, the Royal will visit Al Hilal in Benghazi for the second leg between September 20 and 22.
