Rugby Africa Cup: Hosts Uganda Narrowly Fall Short to Zimbabwe

The Uganda Rugby Union has announced a change in venue for Game Day Two of the Rugby Africa Cup 2024.

Originally set to take place at Mutesa II Royal Stadium in Wankulukuku, the matches will now be held at Mandela National Stadium in Namboole which held Game Day one.

According to the Uganda Rugby Union, the change of venue comes after a technical evaluation of Mutessa II stadium, adding that it remains as an emergency ground should any circumstances arise.

Despite the venue shift, the Union has also confirmed that all other aspects of the tournament remain unchanged. The day’s match schedule is as follows:

– 10:00 AM: Senegal vs Ivory Coast
– 12:00 PM: Uganda vs Burkina Faso
– 2:00 PM: Kenya vs Algeria
– 4:00 PM: Zimbabwe vs Namibia

“We look forward to hosting you and enjoying yet another beautiful day of rugby,” stated Godwin Arinaitwe Kayangwe, President of the Uganda Rugby Union, in an official announcement. “We apologize for any inconveniences caused.”

The 2024 edition of the Rugby Africa Cup is a precursor to the Rugby World Cup qualifiers set to take place next year. The bottom placed team will be relegated from the qualifiers.
