Snoop Dogg to Carry Olympic Torch in Paris Ahead of Opening Ceremony

American rapper Snoop Dogg has been named one of the final torchbearers for the Olympic flame before the opening ceremony in Paris on Friday.

The 52-year-old will carry the torch through the streets of Saint-Denis, located in the north of Paris and home to the Stade de France Olympic Stadium.

The Saint-Denis segment represents the penultimate leg of the flame’s journey, which will culminate at the Eiffel Tower.

Since its commencement in May, the Olympic torch has traversed France, carried by a diverse group of personalities.

Among the notable torchbearers have been former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, Formula One driver Charles Leclerc, and actress Halle Berry.

Snoop Dogg, whose full name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., hails from Los Angeles, the host city for the 2028 Olympics. In Saint-Denis, he will be accompanied by French actress Laetitia Casta and French rapper MC Solaar.

NBS Sport has secured rights to broadcast the Paris Olympics live as Uganda will take part.

With a contingent of 25 athletes, including 21 from athletics, a rower, a cyclist, and two swimmers, Uganda is poised to make a significant impact at the 2024 Paris Olympics that will take place between July 26th and August 11th.
