“So excited to start this new chapter at this huge football club. Let’s create many memories together. Can’t wait to get started,” Sibbick posted on X.

He was born and raised in West London beginning his career at AFC Wimbledon in August 2016.

Sibbick debuted for Wimbledon against Peterborough in April 2017 and he never turned back becoming a regular for the latter during the 2018/19 Sky Bet League One season.

The Cranes defender made 31 appearances for the Dons before his impressive form earned him a move to Barnsley in 2019 in the Championship which the English second tier division.

Wigan’s First Team Manager, Shaun Maloney, expressed his excitement on landing the defender: “I am extremely pleased to welcome Toby to our Football Club. Toby is a versatile defender who can play in any central position within the back four and in any of the back three positions.”

“I have admired Toby for a long time, and he’s impressed me with his journey in the EFL and Scottish Premiership. He is an intelligent footballer with great qualities, and I am looking forward to working with him closely,” Maloney noted.

He spent half a season with Barnsley before joining Hearts for his maiden stint on loan. Despite a promising start, injuries, illness, and the Covid-19 pandemic affected him and he was once again on the move Belgian side Oostende for another loan move.

Sibbick later returned to his parent club Barnsley he rejoined Hearts this time around permanently in January 2022.

He quickly established himself in the Hearts starting lineup, notably inspiring the team to two 3-0 victories against rivals Hibernian in the 2022/23 season, including a memorable solo goal.

He made 41 appearances that season, playing in the UEFA Europa Conference League and helping Hearts secure a fourth-place finish.

In the 2023/24 season, Sibbick featured 29 times and made his international debut for Uganda in March 2023.

Sibbick’s debut for the Uganda Cranes came in a friendly match against Ghana.
