Ahead of the 2024 Rotary Cancer Run, the Rotary Club of Gaba Corridor have prepared themselves with an official launch ceremony.
During the event on Thursday, July 25 the members of the Gaba Corridor Rotary Club engaged in a medical camp, walk and fellowship at Las Vegas Hotel in Kawuku.
Speaking to NBS Sport, the guest of honor Christine Kawooya who is the District Governor Elect noted the importance of this annual activity.
“We join together with the ultimate goal of eradicating cancer in Uganda. Since the beginning of this initiative, the awareness is growing at a high speed,” Kawooya said before adding.
“It is currently centered in the central region but with the level of growth we hope to stretch to upcountry because the cause is countrywide.”
“As a club we look forward to seeing huge numbers of people because we believe on average each household is directly impacted by cancer, so let’s all be there,” she added.
The 12th edition of the Rotary Cancer Run is set for Sunday, August 25 at Kololo Ceremonial Independence Grounds.
Registration fee is UGX 30,000 which comes with a crafted running kit. Over 30,000 participants are expected to turn up.
The general aim is to establish a cancer center at Nsambya Hospital which will be unveiled in 2027 with three billion projected to be collected this year.
A number of partners have already come on board and NBS Sport is proud to be part of this initiative.
