The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that Kitara Football Club will host the first leg of the 1st preliminary round of the 2024/25 CAF Confederation Cup against Al Hilal Benghazi in Libya.
The match is scheduled for Friday, August 16, at the Benina – Martyrs Stadium, with kick-off set for 8 pm Ugandan time.
Kitara had initially hoped to host the match in Uganda, but the club say unforeseen circumstances made this unworkable, leading to the relocation to Libya.
It is reported that the renovation works at Namboole made the ground unavailable to host the match while the St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende has engagements booked for the same day as the Kitara clash. This made the two CAF approved stadiums in Uganda unavailable to host the game.
The return leg will be played at the same venue a week later.
