NCBA Bank Golf Series Make Green Impact at Jinja Golf Course

Over 100 golfers graced the NCBA Golf Series held at the Jinja golf club on Saturday with golfers planting over 100 trees along the golf course as a sustainability initiative aimed at combating climate change and preserving Uganda’s natural ecosystems.

The series that was previously only held in Kampala and Entebbe has now been extended to Jinja Club in a bid to reach more golfers across the country and promote the development of the game.

“We are overwhelmed by the participation, the players from Jinja are impressed, and we are very happy that the golfers have been able to come through,” noted Mark Anthony Muyobo, the NCBA Bank Chief executive officer.

“We have three tournaments this year: the one at Uganda Golf Club, this one in Jinja and the last will be in Entebbe,” he added.

Jinja golf club captain Dr. Fred Magala prides in the Jinja golf course ‘best conditions’. “The fairways are very well cut and we do not have rough,” he noted.

Mark Muyobo, David Odhiama, Edrae Kagomba, Renato Kania, Gadre Shashank, Bernard Mbayo, Brian Omeda, Olivia Nakuya, Patricia Nakasi and Lilllian Koowe were some of the winners in the respective categories.

The NCBA Golf series, now in its fourth annual edition, spans across golf clubs in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda, with the winner having an all-expense paid trip to Nairobi to battle for supremacy in the NCBA Golf Series Grand Finale, facing competition from other countries.
