KCCA Football Club head coach Abdallah Mubiru has expressed confidence that his team will come back stronger in the return leg of their FUFA Super 8 quarterfinal clash against Kitara FC.
In a pre-match interview, Mubiru acknowledged the challenges that led to the first-leg loss but assured the fans that the club is determined to overturn the first-leg result.
“To our fans, we are still building, and we are just three weeks into the pre-season training, but we want to win and will do everything to overturn the result,” he said.
Mubiru explained that the first-leg loss resulted from experimenting with different combinations, but he is pleased with the players’ progress since.
“Preseason comes with a lot of loading, finding combinations, and building certain elements in the team. I am happy that players are acclimatising at a high speed,” he noted.
He emphasised that the team is focused on gradual but steady development, similar to their approach last season.
“In the previous season, we started some partnerships, though we did not score. I will make it clear that we shall keep building and cooking patiently,” Mubiru said.
KCCA will face Kitara tonight at 8 PM at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, under the floodlights.
To advance to the semi-finals of the ongoing FUFA Super 8, the Kasasiro Boys must score more than one goal without conceding.
Before the KCCA-Kitara clash, NEC and Vipers SC will face off at 5 PM. The Venoms played out a 0-0 draw against NEC in the first leg of their tie at St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende on Friday, August 2.
