In a disappointing development, Uganda Cranes midfielder Usama Arafat’s suggested move to Wydad Casablanca has been called off.
According to African Journalist Micky Junior, Arafat suffered an injury during training and the Moroccan giants will explore other options.
“Sad development. Kizza Arafat Usama has picked up an injury. He’s flown back to Uganda from Morocco,” the Ghanian posted on X on Friday evening.
“He will not sign for Wydad as the move is currently off. Wydad are back in the transfer market now and exploring other options.”
The 20-year-old was recommended by Wydad’s new head coach Rhulani Mokwena for trials with the African powerhouse.
Arafat caught the eye of the South African tactician during the latter’s visit to Uganda, KCCA in particular while still at Mamelodi Sundowns in 2022.
NBS Sport understands that Rhulani was once again impressed by the youngster and was to sanction his signature.
He still has a running contract with the Kasasiro Boys which will expire at the end of the 2024/25 season.
