FEASSA Games 2024: Defending Champions Kitende Drawn in Same Group as Co-Hosts Bukedea

The 21st edition of the Federation of East Africa School Sports Association (FEASSA) Games is set to feature thrilling clashes especially in the Boys’ Football category.

The draws, conducted yesterday at the USSSA offices in Kampala saw FEASSA games defending champions in the boys’ football category St. Mary’s Kitende pitted in Group A, the same group as co-hosts Bukedea Comprehensive School.

St. Mary’s Kitende (SMASK), who won in last year’s tournament in Huye, Rwanda, will face a formidable challenge in Bukedea Comprehensive School, who are the co-hosts of the tournament which kicks off on August 16.

In addition to Bukedea Comprehensive School, SMASK will compete against Kenya’s St. Joseph’s Boys Kitale and Highway Secondary School, as well as Tanzania’s Benjamin Mkapa Secondary School, in a bid to retain their title.

Meanwhile, Amus College School, the other co-host of the games, will battle against the reigning Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) national champions, St. Julian High School Mukono, in Group B.

The group also includes APE Rugunga Secondary School from Rwanda, Kenya’s Musingu High School, and Tanzania’s Kalangala Secondary School.

The FEASSA 2024 Games will run from August 16th to 27th and will be hosted across several venues, including five football pitches at Amus College and the main stadium at Bukedea Comprehensive School.

Beyond football, the games will feature a wide array of sports, including basketball (3×3 and 5×5), netball, rugby (7’s and 15’s), handball, athletics, swimming, tennis, volleyball, table tennis, and badminton.

Additional venues around Mbale City will also be used to accommodate the various sporting disciplines.

FEASSA Games 2024 boys’ football groups:

Group A:
– St. Mary’s Kitende (Uganda) – Defending champions
– Bukedea Comprehensive School (Uganda) – Co-hosts
– St. Joseph’s Boys Kitale (Kenya)
– Highway Secondary School (Kenya)
– Benjamin Mkapa Secondary School (Tanzania)

Group B:
– St. Julian High School Mukono (Uganda) – Reigning USSSA national champions
– Amus College School (Uganda) – Co-hosts
– APE Rugunga Secondary School (Rwanda)
– Musingu High School (Kenya)
– Kalangala Secondary School (Tanzania)
