A ‘Hole’ Lot of Support from Pinnacle Security for Uganda Golf

With just days left before the 2024 Johnnie Walker Uganda Golf Open, the Uganda Golf Union has unveiled a UGX 35M sponsorship package from Pinnacle Security Uganda for this year’s tournament at Entebbe Golf Club.

The 83rd edition will see junior, amateur, senior, and professional players compete in the prestigious annual competition, due to take place from August 22 to September 7.

The sponsorship includes financial and security support to ensure a safe environment during the tournament, as Pinnacle Security Uganda’s Communications Manager, Sharon Kuku, notes: “We have been part of Uganda’s golf development for a while, and this time around, we are supporting the Uganda Golf Union with UGX 35 million, which will include both cash and kind efforts.”

Pinnacle Security Uganda joins ABSA Bank Uganda, MTN Uganda, Aquafina, Orchard Interiors, Medisell, and Case Medical Services as the main sponsors, with the action set to be broadcast live on NBS Sport and other Next Media platforms.

Uganda Golf Union President Jackson Were believes the sponsorship is key to the tournament’s success: “Pinnacle Security has been a strategic partner for a while, and their presence at the Uganda Open continues to demonstrate their commitment to the development of the sport, with its founders having provided leadership to the Uganda Golf Union,” Were stated.

Veteran Kenyan Dismas Indiza, who stunned Uganda’s Ronald Rugumayo in the closing stages of the tournament to win the pro category, is the record seven-time winner, while budding talent Godfrey Nsubuga won last year’s amateur title.

The 2024 Johnnie Walker Uganda Golf Open is expected to attract hundreds of local and international golfers
