No one saw Kitara playing both games of the first round of the CAF Confederation Cup preliminaries away from home coming.
Kitara faithful were gearing up to storm either Mandela National Stadium, Namboole or St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende in large numbers to support their team but in vain.
However, striker Denis Omedi has vowed that the players will give their all for the fans who stayed home.
“We have our fans in our hearts and we want to give them the joy and happiness wherever they are,” Omedi told the club media ahead of the game.
“I can assure everyone that we are going to give our best effort in this game and see what happens so our fans should not be worried because we are here for good results.”
“ I know how difficult it is going to be like playing away from our fans because we are used to them but when we went to Ethiopia playing away from home for the first time we played well and won without them in the stands,” he stated.
The Royals will host Al Hilal SC Benghazi at the latter’s stadium on Friday, August 16 before the second leg at the same venue a week later.
“We respect our opponents but we also have our own ambitions as a team so we shall be fighting for victory from the first minute until the final whistle,” Omedi noted.
It is the first time that Kitara will be playing on the continent and to qualify, they won the Uganda Cup at the expense of NEC.
They will come up against their compatriot Muhammad Shaban who joined Al Hilal Benghazi from KCCA during the ongoing transfer window.
