Semi-automated offside technology will be introduced, marking a significant step forward in the use of technology in football.

However, fans will have to wait until after the international break in either September, October, or November to see the system in action.

A crackdown on player dissent is also on the cards. Only the captain will be permitted to address the referee, with any other player facing automatic disciplinary action for confronting match officials.

In a bid to reduce the number of contentious decisions, referees will no longer automatically issue yellow cards for non-deliberate handballs.

Additionally, VAR officials will have a more limited scope, intervening only in clear and obvious errors.

To add an element of surprise, team news will now be released a mere 75 minutes before kick-off, unlike 60 minutes as it was in previous seasons.

Furthermore, the traditional mid-season and Christmas breaks will be scrapped, demanding increased physical and mental resilience from players.

Stoppage time is also set to be reduced, aiming to prevent excessive time-wasting.

The Premier League has also launched a new social media account called the Premier League Match Centre dedicated to providing clear and concise information regarding VAR decisions.

The Premier League will kickoff today for the 2024/25 season as Manchester United host Fulham at Old Trafford.

NBS Sport has secured broadcast rights for free to air matches in Uganda.
