Uganda is set to host the 21st edition of the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) Games, marking the seventh time the country has been chosen to host the prestigious regional sporting event.
The games will take place at the newly constructed Bukedea Comprehensive School and Amus College School in Bukedea District.
In a significant development, this year’s FEASSA Games will be held in brand new sports facilities, including a 10,000-seater stadium, a 4,000-capacity indoor arena, a semi-olympic size swimming pool, and a stadium with a running track, artificial turf ground, and multiple football and basketball courts.
FEASSA President Justus Mugisha expressed his pride in hosting the event and emphasized the focus on holistic development of young athletes.
In addition to the sporting competitions, the games will feature a safeguarding course, a symposium on school sports management, and a cultural exchange program.
“We are committed to ensuring the well-being and safety of our athletes,” Mugisha said. “The symposium will provide a platform for experts and stakeholders to share knowledge and best practices in school sports management. And the cultural exchange day will allow participants to experience the beauty and diversity of Uganda.”
All member states, except South Sudan, will participate in the games, promising a vibrant display of sportsmanship and friendship.
The event will be graced by the presence of Ugandan President Kaguta Museveni and Laurent Petrynka, President of the International School Sport Federation (ISF).
Mugisha expressed gratitude to the organizers, sponsors, and partners for their contributions to the success of the games and pledged to deliver the best-organized FEASSA Games to date.
