FEASSA Games 2024: Kitende Start Title Defense on a High, Co-Hosts Amus College Settle for a Draw

Defending champions St Mary’s Kitende kicked off their title defense in the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association Games with an impressive 2-0 victory over Kenya’s Highway Secondary School.

In the match played yesterday at Amus College Stadium, Kitende displayed their championship pedigree, dominating Highway Secondary from the outset.

Denis Kisiriko opened the scoring in the 13th minute, tapping in a low ball to give Kitende a lead they maintained until halftime.

Agok Santos then sealed the win with a well-placed shot in the 73rd minute, ensuring Kitende began their title defense on a high note.

They now sit level on points and goal difference in Group A with fellow Ugandan side Bukedea Comprehensive, who also triumphed 2-0 over Benjamin Mkapa Secondary School in the tournament’s opening match.

In contrast, co-hosts Amus College experienced a rollercoaster of emotions in their match against Musingu Secondary School.

Amus took an early lead through a penalty converted by captain Toto Majub, energising the home crowd.

However, Musingu equalised shortly after halftime.

Amus regained the lead, only for Musingu to deliver a stunning free kick in the dying moments, resulting in a 2-2 draw that left both teams with a point.

In another exciting fixture, APE-Rugunga from Rwanda battled Kalangala Secondary from Tanzania to a thrilling 2-2 draw.

With these results, Amus, Musingu, APE-Rugunga, and Kalangala all find themselves level on 1 point in Group B.

The action continues today, with reigning USSSA champions St. Julian High School set to face Kalangala Secondary at 11 am.

Simultaneously, Amus College will take on APE-Rugunga in what promises to be an intense match.

Later in the day, a highly anticipated clash will see defending champions St Mary’s Kitende face off against co-hosts Bukedea Comprehensive at 3 pm, both teams riding high after their opening victories.

The other Group A matchup will feature St Joseph’s Kitale from Kenya against Benjamin Mkapa Secondary School from Tanzania.
