FEASSA Games 2024: St. Julian, Bukedea Drop Points in Boys’ Football

The FEASSA Games 2024 witnessed a day of surprises for Uganda in the boys’ football category, as reigning USSSA champions St. Julian High School and co-hosts Bukedea Comprehensive School both stumbled in their respective matches on Wednesday, August 21.

St. Julian High School suffered a setback in their quest for glory after falling 2-1 to Rwanda’s APE Rugunga Secondary School in a tightly contested Pool B encounter.

The national champions had started their campaign on a high note, securing a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Tanzania’s Kalangalala Secondary School earlier in the week.

However, their winning streak was halted by the resilient Rwandan side, leaving St. Julian with much to ponder ahead of their next match.

Looking to bounce back, St. Julian will face a critical challenge tomorrow, Friday, August 23, when they go head-to-head with Pool B leaders and fellow Ugandan side, Amus College.

The match, scheduled for 11 AM, promises to be a thrilling encounter as both teams seek to secure a spot in the knockout stages.

In another Pool B clash, Kenya’s Musingu High School delivered a dominant performance, thrashing Tanzania’s Kalangalala Secondary School 4-0.

The Kenyan side’s emphatic victory has set the stage for their next showdown against APE Rugunga, also set for Friday at 11 AM.

Meanwhile, in Pool A, co-hosts Bukedea Comprehensive School were left frustrated after a goalless draw against Kenya’s St. Joseph Kitale at their home stadium.

The draw marks Bukedea’s second consecutive stalemate, following a similar result against Uganda’s St. Mary’s Kitende on Tuesday.

Despite their promising start with a win over Tanzania’s Benjamin Mkapa Secondary School on opening day, Bukedea now sits on five points after three games.

Elsewhere in Pool A, Highway Secondary School from Kenya secured a comfortable 2-0 win over Benjamin Mpaka Secondary School from Tanzania, further shaking up the group standings.

As the competition heats up, Pool A action returns on Friday, August 23, with St. Mary’s Kitende set to face Benjamin Mkapa SS at 3 PM.

Simultaneously, St. Joseph Kitale will take on Highway Secondary School, before Highway take on Bukedea Comprehensive in a crucial match on Saturday at 11 AM.
