FEASSA Games 2024: How Team Uganda Fared Coast-To-Coast

Following the conclusion of the 2024 Federation of East Africa School Sports Association (FEASSA) Games in Bukedea, we dive into host Uganda’s performance across the board.

Like it was in the previous three editions, Uganda once came out top against her counterparts from Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Burundi grossly.

Football was the epitome of the games co-hosted by Bukedea Comprehensive School and Amus College and both the boys and girls categories were clinched by Ugandan schools.

Co-hosts Amus edged defending champions St. Mary’s SS Kitende 1-0 to avenge last year’s defeat in Rwanda denying the latter from stretching their record to 16 titles in boys.

It was a similar scoreline in the girls category with St. Noa Girls crowned against Kenyan side Butere Girls High School.

After losing the championship in the boys’ football, Kitende found solace in netball, edging out Kawanda SS 51-49.

In addition to their gold in girls’ football, St. Noa won gold in the 3X3 and 5X5 basketball games, outrightly Uganda’s best performers.

Amus not only won the boy’s football championship but also won the 5X5 basketball competition 54-51 at the expense of Kenya’s Laiser Hill Academy.

Besides football, netball, and basketball, badminton, table tennis, and handball are where Uganda collected gold.

Kibuli SS and Mbogo Mixed bossed badminton and table tennis picking up two gold medals apiece.

Kibuli won gold in girls’ table tennis; on the other hand, Mbogo collected gold in the boys’ competition.

Meanwhile, Mbogo scooped up gold in girls’ badminton, whilst Kibuli clinched the same in the boy’s category.

Kibuli added another gold to their gallery thanks to a 32-25 victory over Gombe SS in the girls’ handball final.

As Uganda dominated the 21st edition, it managed 38 medals in total but, most importantly, 11 gold medals for the Pearl of Africa.
