UPL Releases Updated Fixtures for 2024/25 Season, Key Changes to Doubleheaders

The Uganda Premier League (UPL) Secretariat has unveiled the updated fixtures for the 2024/25 Startimes Uganda Premier League season, with key changes to doubleheaders.

The decision to incorporate doubleheaders into the schedule comes after the successful implementation of this format at Namboole Stadium last season, where BUL and KCCA hosted games on the same day.

Despite the positive results seen in the previous season, the introduction of doubleheaders has been met with mixed reactions from the clubs.

Several clubs have expressed a preference for hosting their matches at their traditional home grounds rather than participating in doubleheaders at neutral or shared venues.

In response to these concerns, the UPL Secretariat has scheduled doubleheaders exclusively at grounds where two or more teams regularly host games.

These double headers will occur on match days when both teams have home games.

However, there will be no doubleheaders at Lugazi Stadium in Najjembe, despite it being the shared home ground for Lugazi and BUL, due to the teams not playing at home on the same days.

The following fixtures highlight the key double headers for the upcoming season:

– Match Day 3: Saturday, 28th September 2024, at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo
– URA FC vs Mbarara City FC at 5:00 PM
– Express FC vs Maroons FC at 8:00 PM

– Match Day 5: Saturday, 19th October 2024, at MTN Omondi Stadium
– NEC FC vs Maroons FC at 4:00 PM
– KCCA FC vs UPDF FC at 7:00 PM

– Match Day 23: Friday, 11th April 2025, at MTN Omondi Stadium
– NEC FC vs Kitara FC at 4:00 PM
– KCCA FC vs BUL FC at 8:00 PM

– Match Day 25: Thursday, 24th April 2025, at MTN Omondi Stadium
– NEC FC vs Mbale Heroes FC at 4:00 PM
– KCCA FC vs Mbarara City FC at 7:00 PM

These fixtures are subject to change based on the television schedule, adjustments to the FIFA and CAF calendars, and the fulfilment of the minimum club licensing requirements.
