FUFA President Moses Magogo has lauded the Uganda Premier League clubs for their role in nurturing national team talent, expressing gratitude for the increasing number of locally-based players making significant contributions to the Uganda Cranes.
Speaking to the press following Uganda’s successful start to the AFCON 2025 Qualifiers, Magogo highlighted the performances of players like Denis Omedi, Allan Okello, and Jude Ssemugabi, who have all made notable impacts in recent matches.
“When we see the likes of Omedi, Okello, and Ssemugabi putting in the effort and making contributions to the national team, we are filled with pride,” Magogo said. “This is a testament to the quality of players being developed in our domestic league.”
Magogo also extended his appreciation to StarTimes, the title sponsors of the Uganda Premier League, for their support in the growth and development of the league.
He emphasized the crucial role that StarTimes plays in providing a platform for talented players to showcase their skills.
Uganda currently tops Group K of the AFCON 2025 Qualifiers with 4 points after impressive performances over South Africa and Congo.
The Cranes will be aiming to maintain their momentum when they host South Sudan in October. The tournament itself is scheduled to take place in Morocco starting in late December 2025.
