Kitara Football Club are gearing up for their inaugural match in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League 2024/25 season, set to take place away at Lugazi Stadium on Saturday.
The Royals are eager to make a strong statement after doing well and winning the Stanbic Uganda Cup in their debut campaign.
Jude Ssemugabi and Denis Omedi, who recently represented Uganda at the international level, are expected to be available for selection, barring any unforeseen setbacks.
While the team is generally in good shape, there are a few injury concerns. Defenders Benjamin Nyakoojo and Dudu Ramadan remain sidelined due to injuries and will miss the Lugazi trip.
Additionally, Monday Denis picked up a knock during a friendly match against Kinyara and is also unavailable.
Kitara bolstered their squad with new signings during the off-season. These players have impressed during the pre-season and could potentially make their debuts for the Royals in the opening match.
George Senkaaba is currently on compassionate leave but is expected to rejoin the team next week.
Frank Yiga, who missed a significant portion of last season due to a muscle injury, is back in full training and is ready for selection.
Kitara will be looking to challenge for the title like they did last season when they topped the standings for the majority of the season.
