USSSA Opens Bidding for 2025 National Championships

The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) has officially opened the bidding process to host the upcoming National Championships from 2025 to 2028.

USSSA President Justus Mugisha expressed satisfaction with the successful organization of the 2024 championships, highlighting the high participation rates across various sports.

He emphasized the association’s commitment to providing opportunities for students to showcase their athletic talents.

“The year 2024 has been a successful one for USSSA National Championships,” Mugisha stated. “The championships were well-organized, and the number of participants was commendably high.”

Schools and regions across the country are now invited to submit bids to host the 2025, 2026, 2027, and 2028 championships.

The previous year’s championships saw a record number of participants, with over 15,000 athletes taking part in various sporting events.

To ensure equitable opportunities, USSSA has been rotating the championships among different regions of Uganda.

Bukedea Comprehensive School and Amus College School were recognized for their outstanding efforts in organizing the recent FEASSA Games.

Commissioner for Physical Education and Sports, Reverend Canon Duncans Mugumya, praised the schools and their staff for their dedication and hard work in making the championships a success.

He emphasized the importance of sports in promoting physical and mental well-being among students.

If a school is selected to host the championships but fails to meet the required standards, USSSA reserves the right to assign the hosting duties to another school or region.

This ensures that the championships are held in a well-prepared and organized environment.
