Ugandan striker Emmanuel Okwi had a stellar second league debut in AS Kigali’s 1-0 win over Gorilla in the Rwanda Premier League.
Okwi scored the only goal of the game in the 53rd minute as Kigali edged Gorilla at Kigali Stadium on Sunday.
In the aftermath of the game, the 31-year-old expressed his delight. “We are so happy to have won the game today (Sunday) and it was a tough one because we played against a very good team.”
“The conditions were not as favourable because the heat was too much but we managed to win and we can build on the three points going into the next game,” he noted.
It was Kigali’s second win of the season in three outings and they currently seat third on the 16-team log.
They will return to action on Friday, September 20 visiting Rutsiro a side that is ahead of them in the second position by virtue of goal difference.
