FUFA has announced a new technical team that will be in charge of the Uganda Hippos, the country’s U20 national men’s football team, in their quest for qualification to next year’s U20 AFCON.
Matia Lule, who previously led the Uganda Cubs (U17 team) and served as an assistant coach to Sebastian Desabre, takes over the reins of the Hippos from Morley Byekwaso.
Lule will be assisted by Massa Simeon, while Kiggundu Steven Billy will serve as the goalkeeping coach. Kasule Noah will ensure the team’s physical fitness and Mutyaba Bashir will take on the role of team manager.
The technical team have assembled a provisional squad of 45 players, including a mix of experienced campaigners and promising young talents.
The squad includes a mix of players from the Uganda Premier League, players who shone at the recent USSSA competition, plus a few foreign-based players of Ugandan origin.
The Hippos are set to enter camp on Monday, September 16th, as they prepare for their quest to qualify for the continental tournament.
