Ugandan-Rooted Talent Divine Mukasa Signs First Pro Contract with Man City

Ugandan-English Talent Divine Mukasa has officially signed his first professional contract with Manchester City.

The 17-year-old attacking midfielder, born on August 22, 2007, made the transition to City from West Ham United in September 2023 and has quickly made a name for himself in youth football.

Motsepe: CAF Will Honour CAS Verdict

His mother, Laima Mukasa, announced the news of his professional contract on her official X platform, yesterday stating, “Congratulations Divine Mukasa on your first professional contract! Make us proud every day.”

Mukasa recently scored two goals in Manchester City Academy’s commanding 6-0 win against Nottingham Forest in the U18 Premier League on Saturday. He also featured in his club’s 4-2 defeat to Inter Milan in the UEFA Youth League yesterday.

The youngster has a couple of silverware to his name already. He has helped his teams to victory in the FA Youth Cup, winning back-to-back titles; first with West Ham in 2023 and then with Manchester City in 2024.

Mukasa has earned appearances for his birth country England in the U-15, U-17, and U-18 teams, but his international future remains open.

He is eligible to represent three nations: England, Uganda, and Lithuania, thanks to his diverse family background. His mother, Laima, hails from Lithuania, while his father, Sam Mukasa, is from Uganda.
