In a thrilling encounter at the IUIU Grounds in Mbale, Busitema University suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat against IUIU on Friday 20th September.
The match began promisingly for Busitema, with Derrick Waduma breaking the deadlock in the 33rd minute.
However, the visitors’ joy was short-lived as Waduma was sent off just before halftime, leaving them to play with ten men for the majority of the game.
Despite playing with a numerical disadvantage, Busitema maintained their grip on the game and looked poised to secure all three points.
However, IUIU staged a dramatic late comeback, scoring twice in quick succession.
Dennis Onongo leveled the score in the 83rd minute, before Ismael Tamubula snatched the victory for IUIU with a goal in the 87th minute.
The defeat is a significant setback for Busitema, who had high hopes of making a strong start to the season. Meanwhile, IUIU’s victory will boost their confidence as they look to build on their impressive performance.
