NBL Playoffs: Consecutive Championships For Dolphins

JKL Lady Dolphins were able to defend their Women’s National Basketball League title in the final against UCU Lady Canons.

UCU Lady Canons began the 2024 best-of-seven series final playoffs, the better side taking a 2-0 lead after winning games one and two.

However, the defending champions, JKL Lady Dolphins, turned it around to lead the series 3-2 when they won games three, four, and five.

JKL Lady Dolphins put themselves in a position of clinching the championship in game six and set a do-or-die affair for UCU Lady Canons.

Game six was delayed for a fortnight to accommodate team Uganda at the 2024 3X3 FIBA Women’s World Cup in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

Action would finally resume on Sunday, September 22, at the Lugogo Indoor Arena, and JKL Lady Dolphins managed to defeat UCU Lady Canons 68-56 for a 4-2 victory in this best-of-seven-series playoffs final.

Ritah Imanishimwe and Hope Akello took matters into their own hands to guide JKL Lady Dolphins to victory chipping in with 19 and 14 points, respectively.

It was the second time that JKL Lady Dolphins were defending the NBL Women’s Championship. They also did it in 2019. They now have four titles to their name which came in 2018, 2019, 2023, and 2024.
