The Chairman of the Uganda Olympic Committee, Don Rukare, has issued a rallying call to investors to capitalize on the potential of the Teryet High Altitude Training Center.
This World Athletics-certified facility, situated at a perfect altitude of 2,600 meters, has become a sought-after destination for athletes seeking to enhance their endurance.
Speaking at the conclusion of the UG Economic Forum on Friday September 20, Rukare emphasized the significant interest shown by athletes worldwide in training at Teryet.
“Many athletes have expressed interest in coming to Uganda to train but the area doesn’t have a good enough hotel to accommodate these athletes,” he said.
“Teryet High Altitude Training Center is one of the best in the world. We don’t even need to send our athletes to Kenya to train. We have a very good facility back home. What we lack are the hotel facilities,” he added.
Established in honor of Stephen Kiprotich’s Olympic Gold medal victory, the Teryet High Altitude Training Center has played a pivotal role in nurturing Ugandan athletic talent.
Many Ugandan runners have already honed their skills at this facility, benefiting from the unique altitude and training conditions.
