Nakyanzi is known for her goal-scoring ability, and is expected to boost Uganda Martyrs’ title ambitions after the club finished third last season, behind Kawempe Muslim and She Corporates.

Nakyanzi is also a former player for Asubo Ladies, and returns to Uganda after a successful stint in the Democratic Republic of Congo with FCF Amani, where she won the 2022/23 Kinshasa Province title alongside Ugandan players Gloria Namugerwa and Sheebah Zalwango.

Her experience at the international level is anticipated to inspire the younger players at Uganda Martyrs, with her goal-scoring prowess seen as a key asset for the club’s campaign.

“I came back because I saw some gaps in the team that I felt I could help fix,” Nakyanzi said.

“Having played for Uganda Martyrs in 2016, I believe I can contribute to their success, and my goal this season is to score goals that will help us win titles.”

Head coach Edward Kasozi Ssozi expressed excitement about Nakyanzi’s arrival, describing her as a creative and talented player who will play a pivotal role in the team’s ambitions.

“We wanted to sign Nulu so badly, and we’re lucky to have her. She’s a special player, and I believe she will help us reach our goals this season,” Ssozi said.

Uganda Martyrs will host their home matches at the Coffee Grounds in Bugolobi, following a new partnership with NEC FC, who own the venue.

The club’s first game of the season is scheduled for Saturday, September 28, against She Corporates.

The team requested Saturday fixtures for their home games, a decision endorsed by the club’s new president, to keep Sundays free for prayer.

The unveiling of the club’s 18-player squad took place at Uganda Martyrs High School, where the team was presented to students, who the club’s core supporters.

Club CEO Freda Ayerango highlighted the significance of this event, saying, “We chose to unveil the squad in front of our students because they are our number one fans and our foundation as a club.”
