Golola Takes Helm at Proline, Aiming to Restore their Former Glory

Edward Golola has joined Proline Football Club as head coach, signing a three-year deal with the club that currently competes in the Kampala regional league.

The coach, who holds a CAF C license, brings a wealth of experience to Proline.

His impressive resume includes multiple stints with Vipers SC and St. Mary’s Kitende Secondary School, where he cultivated a reputation for developing young talent and securing silverware.

“We are thrilled to have you on board,” Proline stated on Monday evening as they welcomed the mostly underrated tactician.

Golola played a pivotal role in three of Vipers’ six league titles, clinched the Uganda Cup in 2016, and lifted the Super 8 Cup in 2019 with the club.

His tenure at St. Mary’s Kitende was equally illustrious, dominating both domestic and regional school competitions.

The appointment comes at a crucial juncture for Proline. Founded in 2006, the club has experienced a roller-coaster journey through Ugandan football’s hierarchy.

After enjoying seven seasons in the top-flight Uganda Premier League, Proline faced relegation in 2013-14.

They clawed their way back to the top tier in 2016, only to face another setback in the 2017-18 season.

However, the 2018-19 campaign proved to be a golden year for Proline. Despite playing in the second tier, they clinched the FUFA Big League title and, in a stunning turn of events, captured the Uganda Cup.

This triumph earned them a spot in the 2019 CECAFA Cup, marking their debut on the continental stage.

Unfortunately, the club’s fortunes took a downturn, culminating in their relegation to the third division in 2022.

Now, with Golola at the helm, Proline will be embarking on a mission to restore their former glory.

The veteran’s appointment is seen as a coup for the ambitious club. His proven ability to nurture young talent and win aligns perfectly with Proline’s strategy and promotion aspirations.
