Uganda Hippos Final Squad for AFCON U20 Zonal Qualifiers Named

The Uganda Hippos, the defending champions of the AFCON U20 CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers, have announced their final squad for the upcoming tournament in Tanzania.

The squad, led by captain Toto Majub, features a mix of experienced players and promising young talents.

The Hippos are drawn in Group B alongside Ethiopia, Burundi, and South Sudan. Their campaign begins on Monday, October 7th, against Ethiopia at the Azam Complex.

Head coach Mathias Lule expressed confidence in his team’s ability to maintain Uganda’s strong record in youth football and secure a spot at the 2025 AFCON U20 tournament.

“We have a talented group of players who are determined to make Uganda proud,” said Lule. “We are confident in our preparations and believe that we can achieve our goal.”

The Hippos are expected to depart for Tanzania on Friday evening.
